What a powerful quote from Frederick Buechner:
Too often we believe the lie that only beautiful things should happen in life. Unfortunately, that's not true. We live in a broken world, with broken people. Bad things will happen and we don't understand why.
In the last half of Matthew 5:45, Jesus says:
"For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike."
Things happen – but we don't have to be afraid.
Whatever happens in life, whatever obstacles we may face, God knows what we are going through and dealing with. One of my favorite verses is Isaiah 41:10.
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
I am not alone.
I don't have to depend on my own strength.
